Recently I started working on a crazy quilt block and I think I am really going to enjoy this. I know that I can use my machine for the embellishment, but I like to do the hand work in the evenings. It helps to pass the time while the TV is on. I am already thinking about the next one.
I really like the magic chain stitch. That is the one with maroon & yellow alternating threads. I used Press n' Seal to copy the paisley design.
I like the couching I did with the yarn. That was different. I am having fun and learning new techniques that I have never used before & I know that my stitches will get better with time.

This is Spanky on his bed and Molly sharing the blanket. Normally Spanky doesn't like for anyone to bother him, but I guess he is mellowing out in his old age.
Well, where do I begin since I last posted. I have been busy at church meetings, cleaning house and all the other normal routines. I have started new sewing projects and a new oil painting.
This week I have been with my mom at the hospital. She became quite ill on Monday and they rushed her to the hospital. She is still in intensive care, but hopefully she will be moved into a room tommorrow.
We have new 6 new calves born and the Canadian Goose is setting on her nest. Spring is definitely on its way.
Hopefully I will be back to my sewing studio by the end of the week, with new items to appear soon.

Yesterday I finished another quilt top. This one will be going to the cancer unit of our local Children's Hospital. I used previous scraps from my stash and actually created this one on my own, no pattern. That is a first for me and actually it was quite fun. I just started with small pieces and kept adding until I reached a good size on the block. I did not worry about matching or 1/4" seams, even though I did keep them pretty close. Now I have to put the back together so I can quilt it.

Here is our oldest family pet. His name is Spanky. He is an Austrailian Healer, 12 yrs old, hardly any teeth left, lost from nipping at the cows & horses heals. A couple of years ago he lost one eye & stays in the house most of the time. I had this leftover fabric from the trips Spanky, Benji, JoJo, Will & Rachel made to the groomer, so I thought I would make him some pillows to sleep on. He looks pretty happy.
Well, Saturday my hubby put up an electric fence around the tree and nest. This will keep the horses and goats from stepping on the nest and breaking the eggs. I was afraid they would not like the interference, but is seems to be working. She is back to working on the nest and laying eggs. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Today has been a beautiful day, sunshine and close to 60 degrees. My hubby put an electric fence around the area where the Canadian Geese are laying. That will keep the goats & mini horses away, so the nest will not be disturbed. It won't be long until morning coffe on the patio will be my daily routine. Can't hardly wait.
