Good Day to Sew!

I woke up this morning to rain and clouds. Ricky left with 3 friends for a trip to Texas. They were going to fly, but the cloud cover stopped that. He will be back sometime late Saturday. I plan on spending most of my time sewing. I have a lot of small projects I want to work on and this will be a good time to tackle them. The weather outside is gloomy, so why not stay in and sew, sew, sew!

A Little Disappointment!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I called this morning to check on my flooring and was told it has not shipped yet. They said it was shipping on Wednesday from Lancaster Pa. and might arrive before June 3rd. This is a little disappointing because I was first told that it would take 5 - 6 days for delivery. Oh well, I guess I will just have to put my mind on something else for awhile. At least the guys are back today working on the inside and I do have the vinyl siding on the outside. I will post new pics one day this week.

I Have a Roof!

Another week has gone by and I now have a roof, sub floor & sheet rock in my studio. It is beginning to take shape and looks better every day. That's Ricky cleaning up some scraps from the porch. I have ordered the flooring, purchased the paint, plugs and all the light fixtures. Now all I have to do is wait and start packing up my "stuff" so I will be ready to move in.

Work After One Week

What a difference a week makes.

This is a side view & front view facing the house showing the new roof and porch.

This is a look at the inside. My floor space will be 12' x 35'. I can't imagine what I will do with all that space.

A New Studio in the Making!

It is a dream come true. My husband is going to have our storage shed turned into a studio for me. I will be posting pictures as the work begins and is in progress. I have spent many a year in an upstairs bedroom with not much space for working.
We have talked about doing this for awhile and now the time is here. These pictures show what the building looked like before the construction started.

Strolling Thru the Arts

Tonight I participated in my first art show. It was held on the square of my hometown. Most of the businesses were open and had artwork on display. I had 3 pieces on display in one shop. It was quite interesting to see the people come in and look at the work. I had a chance to ask several people what they thought of my work and actually had some good responses. They seemed quite interested in the thoughts behind the paintings. "Childhood Dreams" is my recent painting and was one of the pieces I had on display.

Storms Are A Brewing!

It is now 10:45pm and the thunder is rolling in. Storms are expected here after midnight. I personally do not sleep well when during storms, so I will probably be up for awhile. Hopefully we will only receive the wind and rain. It is difficult to watch for tornados when it is the middle of the night. I have a closet that I get in, Ricky laughs at me, but I told him he would not be laughing if they had to pull him out of the trees. We have been blessed this year with only minor wind damage and I hope it stays that way.

Where to begin?

Let me see, I am several weeks late on posting and I want to get going. Since last we talked Mom has stood up 4 times. She has also gone to the church service at the nursing home. This is a major accomplishment because she has not participated in any events since she arrived in April 2006. I don't know how long this will last, but I am grateful for every day that she has the will to do something.
