It's 2:30 in the morning!!!!!!!!

And I can't sleep!  So here I am posting on my blog.  I sometimes have nights like tonight.  It usually starts with Maggie, our oldest dog, barking at the wind which disturbs the others in the house so they want to bark along.  By the time Maggie is finished and ready to sleep I'm awake, God love her!  I guess having a coffee with baileys with my dinner did not help. Oh well, this will give me some time to check out some blogs on the internet or maybe some quilt patterns, who knows what I'll find at this time of the morning.  Maybe I can fix myself a nice, warm, cup of milk and see if I can get a few hours in. If not, I can take a nap later in the afternoon.

Valentine's Wreath

Here is a wreath I made for Mom.  She is in a nursing home and I like to keep something on her door.  This year I thought a Valentine wreath would be nice.

I was roaming through some blogs on the net and found a site where they had made quilted hearts.  I thought that would be a great idea for a Valentine's wreath.  I used some of my fabric, cut the hearts, did a little straight line quilting, stuffed one and then did an embroidery piece.  I used Mom's pins that she wore when she worked as a Teachers Aide and some sticky hearts as embellishment.  I even cut the grapevines from our arbor.  This is a first for me and Mom was so excited to see it hanging on her door.

Pink for the Princess!

This small quilt is my first finish of 2011.

I purchased the fabric in Dec. with the intent of making a purse.  After cutting the squares and laying it out, I did not like the way it looked.  Oh well, I'll do something else with it was my thought.  Then I remembered my nephew has a little girl, Abby who is turning 3 this month.  I remembered a video I saw about Dissappearing 9 patch, where you sewed the 9 squares together, cut down and across the center, flipped and sewed them back together.  That's what I did and this is what I came up with.  Abby loves pink and I think these colors are perfect for her.  I hope she has many happy days of playing with her dolls and this quilt.
