Mona Came Home!

I have finally brought Mona Lisa home.

I want to show her to Mom and get her opinion.  She is still not complete but coming along real well.  I'm not sure she likes it here though, I may have to take her back to the studio next week.

Repurposed Bag

Here's what I did today.

A gift bag made from plastic bags, paper, ribbon & stitched together on my machine. Looks kinda like fabric. I got the idea from Green Craft magazine.

Saved a turtle!

Lately the weather has been pretty good and today I was on the patio having a snack (apple & peanut butter) when I noticed Tipper sniffing around the edge of the house.  I thought she was looking at a rock until I got up and took a closer look.
It was a "tiny turtle".  It was the cutest little thing and I couldn't let Tipper take off with it so I saved a turtle.  I should have taken a picture of the little thing as I let it go on the edge of the pond.  It really was glad to get back in the water.  Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend!

My Computer is back!

Several months ago I got this "bright idea" that I would take my computer out of my studio and move it into the upstairs room in our house.  I thought that I would have more time to sew and paint if I wasn't on the computer while I was in my studio.  Well, I have finally moved my system back and I must say I should have done it a lot sooner than now.  Why, you may ask, did I do that.  Because I never get on the computer when I am in the house.  Usually I am working on dinner, cleaning or just watching TV with Ricky so my time online dropped almost to nothing.  I did not keep up with my blog, much less read the ones I follow or even check out new ones.  I did not keep up with new designs for  my embroidery machine or new downloads of fabric swatches from Electric Quilt and I never looked for new websites on oil painting, knitting or scrapbooking.  So I am happy to say my personal computer system is back and I look forward to new pictures and a lot more updates in the future.  Have a great day!

No Babies This Year!

I woke up this morning to find that "something" had stolen all of the eggs from the Canadian Goose nest.  I always check her first thing in the morning and noticed she wasn't on the nest.  I kept looking for her to come back but she never did.  After a few hours I went over to the nest and everything was gone.  She has made her nest on our pond for the past 5 or 6 years and we have never had a problem, until now.  I am so disappointed because I watched her and her mate everyday.  I can't imagine what would be able to carry off all of her eggs. What ever it was, Raccoon, Skunk or something else they must have had a time.  She usually lays about 7 or 8 each year. There are 2 couples still hanging around the pond and there is one loner so I don't know if she is gone as well or not.  Sometimes nature really gives me a fit.  There are usually other nests around the farm so I'm hoping I will still get to watch some grow up and learn to fly this year.

New Spring Wreaths

Yesterday was a beautiful day and I managed to accomplish quite a bit.  I made this wreath for the front of the house.

And I made this one for the side of our patio.

I almost finished my quilt that is on my longarm but started running into problems with my top thread breaking so I quit for the day.  I find that it's better to walk away from things like that instead of continually trying to fix a small problem which sends my frustration level up.  I decided to take my dog Tipper for a ride on the Gator.  She really likes that, so we drove up to our other farm to see what kind of progress Ricky was making on cleaning out the fence row.  It was a short ride but it gave me time to forget about the thread problem and just enjoy the afternoon.  I'm off this morning to visit Mom, do a little shopping (looking is more like it) and then back home for another great spring day.

A Beautiful Morning

This morning I was outside having coffee, something I love to do when the weather is permitting.  I was listening to the sounds of the doves, mocking birds, black birds and all the others and thought how blessed I was to live in an area of the world that was peaceful and quiet.  I treasure the times I can just sit and think about my life and the lives of my children and pray that they will have good days.  This morning was one of those times, when I could reflect on past weeks and look forward to new days.  Today my wish is that all will have peaceful times and quiet moments to carry them through, whatever comes their way.  Have a blessed day!
