Chocolate Chips

Just finished a batch of cookies for the youth group at church. I think I need a glass of milk!

Love Mornings Like This!

I love mornings like this when the sun glistens through the trees and the mist is almost gone.  It makes everything look so clean and fresh.  I posted this on my facebook page with this message, "May you always find a bright spot in your day."

Life is a journey, roll down the window and enjoy the breeze!
Have a blessed day! Kathleen

Updating Blog List

While I'm sitting here making copies of our taxes, I am updating my blog list.  I have found a few new ones and still looking for more.  I love to read the posts and check out the pictures from where you live and travel.  All this reading goes well with a cup of coffee.  Have a blessed day & keep those posts going!

Umbrella and Beach Chair

I have just added 2 new paintings to my page.  They are a set I painted for an art show but was unable to attend.  Check them out on My Art Work page.

We had a wonderful day for the BBQ and had a great turn out but, as usual I got so busy I forgot to take pictures.  I'm think some of our friends did and I hope they can send me copies.  I think this year was the best one ever.  Now that it's over I can get down to business with my quilting.

I'm getting ready to work on one of Bonnie Hunter's patterns that I have about half way through.  It's called Blue Ridge Beauty and I have all 448 4 patches finished along with the 448 half sqs done.  Now I just have to put them together to make the blocks.  Have a great day and stay happy!

Today is the Day!

Our BBQ is today and by 5pm we should have about 150 people waiting to eat.  They will start coming in around 2 or 3 just to visit with friends, walk around the farm with the kids so they can see all the animals and just enjoy a bit of country living.  God has blessed Ricky and I with so much in our lives and this one day is a special one.  Granted, it is hard work before and after, but the friendship and fun that everyone has is well worth it.  Every year Ricky says, "I don't think we'll do the BBQ next year, but every year, for 16 now, we do and people come and have a good time.  I already have 2 crocks with white beans going and 2 pans of eggs boiling.  I'll make a couple pans of cornbread and then I'll be through so I can visit with everyone when they get here.  I'll take pictures this year and post them as soon as I can.  Have a great day!

My New Look!

I am so excited about my new look for the outside of my studio.  It all started with the fish hanging above the open sign.  My daughter, Amanda, gave that to me when she returned home from Florida.  I have always wanted a sign out front, even though I don't sell anything, so my grand-daughter, Abby, helped me paint the sign.  My most favorite part is the water feature that I made, from a shower door and a metal feed container that I purchased at the local TSC.  I painted the back side of the glass with acrylics and spray painted the container.  Ricky made the piece on top to from PVC pipe.  It has holes drilled in it and its attached on the back to a fountain pump.  I love to hear the sound of the water falling back into the container.  Ricky also sprayed my chairs and table for me.  The last thing to do was give Mr. Sun a new shine.  I plan on bringing in the water feature for the winter and while I am in my studio working I can have the peaceful sound of water flowing everyday. I just love the way it looks!

Things are busy around here!

It's that time of year when Ricky and I have our annual BBQ and we have been busy as little bees getting everything ready.  We have cleaned & painted, mowed & cut and purchased all the supplies, I think, that we will need.  We hope to have around 150 people come and enjoy good food, hayrides and good fellowship.  After Saturday, actually Sunday afternoon clean up, we will be able to take a breather and enjoy the fall weather coming.

I have 3 quilts in the works and 3 paintings so I should be able to stay busy but it will be a relaxing busy not the hurry up get it done kind.  I will post a picture of  the front of my studio for you to see.  I have made a few changes and I just love it!  Have a wonderful evening!

The Days are Changing!

I don't know about your neck of the woods, but here the days are changing, sometimes by the hour.  I will truly miss the little hummers when they leave.  I watch them every morning and evening and I can tell that some have already left.  Fall is upon us and I do look forward to seeing all the colors but I don't look forward to winter, except for the fact that the Canadian Geese will return soon after that.  That's how I keep up with the seasons here in Tennessee.  I pray everyone has a great day!

Catching up on my reading!

I spent a quiet evening catching up on the blogs that I like to read.  Boy, you sure have been busy!  There are so many projects that you have completed that I wonder where you get the time.  Anyway, it has been great catching up and I look forward to staying on top of it all!

Challenges of updating software!

I have just spent the last 3 hours trying to update my Canon software so I can upload my photos from it to our computer that has Windows 7 on it.  Needless to say I have not been able to get the darn thing to work.  The computer will not acknowledge the camera and my printer will not acknowledge the card.  So, I'm going to quit and do something else and come back to it later.  I don't know why some things have to be so difficult.

The temp is going up so I think I will paint my outside chairs and table today.  It should be a good day for that and hopefully the fresh air will clear my brain!  Have a great day!

Changing things around

It has been quite some time since I have posted.  I am still quilting, still oil painting and still working in fiber art.  For the present I have removed my Oil Painting page.  I am working on getting my pictures current.

There are times in our lives when we must put some things on the back burner and my blog was one.  I think I am almost back to a normal routine in my life and I hope that I will be able to get back to writing and sharing my photos.  All is well at R and K but I will ask for a prayer for my mother.  She is facing several medical issues and that is what has taken a lot of my time.

I look forward to reading your blogs and getting caught up on what is happening.  Have a wonderful day and I'll see ya soon!
