Breakfast Time

I just had to share this with everyone.  Every morning Ricky goes out to feed and believe me they all are waiting.  When I say all, that means horses, donkeys, mules, jennies, cows, emus and last but not least ducks.  I was out feeding the cats but had to get my camera for this shot.

Dusty, our horse, looked around at me kinda' like he was saying, What, can't you see we are having breakfast.  He then turned back to eating like I wasn't there. They obviously have fat bellies and love the cracked corn & wheat mixture we give them.

Stitch Regulator

Today I worked (played) on my quilting machine.  I have a Homesteader from The Quilting Solution that I recently had upgraded with a stitch regulator and back handles.  I loaded a scrap backing, batting, and top fabric and proceeded to learn how to use the regulator.  First off, the top thread started breaking.  It seemed like everything I tried, failed.

I had to call Jennifer, who is so helpful and quickly calls you back if needed.  She told me to mist my thread, especially if I leave it out in the open.  Well, this morning I did as she said, adjusted the bobbin a little and low and behold it worked.  Here's a picture of a feather, maybe a leaf, design I tried.

Not too bad for a first timer.  Now I can put a real quilt in and get going.  I finished Bonnie Hunter's scrap quilt, Blue Ridge Beauty and I'm itchin' to get started.

Collage Page

I'm on a roll!  I have just completed my first collage page in my new journal.  I have been following Donna Downey for several months and have finally decided to start my own journal.  One of these days I'm going to take one of her workshops.

I received an invitation to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the other day. It said Regarding Warhol - Sixty Artists, Fifty Years, See It First.  Lord knows, I can't get to New York.  I'll have to add it to my bucket list.  I decided to use part of it on my first page.  Love it, Love it!!

If you're not familiar with Donna please check out her website.  She is a wonderful artist that loves to share her talents with others.

Play Day!

I finally have a free day to play and boy am I happy.  So far, I have finished my first Book of Days journal............

.....here's my last page
I added a button to the front and a beaded cord to the back for a closure.

I have already purchased my next journal that I will use for collage.  I'm on the hunt for another book to alter for my Book of Days. I saw a video where someone used a text book.  I may try and make my own with papers and waxed thread.  I have learned so much this year and I give thanks to Effy Wild at  Book of Days.  She has a wonderful website and her work is fantastic.

I will post again soon, with more pics of my art filled day.

I hope you have a wonderful day.

Zentangles

Just a quick post to see if I have my iPad set up correctly.    This is something I played with while I was at the hospital with my mother-in-law.  After I finished I learned that most zentangles are about 3" square.  Oh well, I had plenty of time to spare and it kept my mind occupied.
